How is brie eaten

Can I eat brie made from pasteurized milk? Can i drink buttermilk?

Hello Mr. Prof. Dr. Costa,

I have taken from the nutritional guidelines that I can eat brie made from pasteurized milk. I did that too. Now I've read quite a few times that you should avoid this cheese or at least cut off the rind. Do I have to worry now because I ate about 2 packs during pregnancy?
I also ate slices of soft cheese (also made from pasteurized milk).
Can I drink buttermilk during pregnancy?

Thanks in advance!
With best regards

Answer:

Can I eat brie made from pasteurized milk? Can i drink buttermilk?

Every type of cheese that is made from pasteurized milk is also considered healthy during pregnancy and is therefore recommended. When it comes to the brie, opinions differ when it comes to the bark - noble mushrooms are used here, which usually don't cause problems. If the brie is fresh (ie "fresh out of the box"), I see no reason to leave out the rind. But as soon as you store the cheese, bacteria can also spread there, even in the refrigerator.

So my "compromise suggestion" is that you can eat fresh brie. You haven't harmed anyone, I'm pretty sure of that. Buttermilk and soft cheese slices made from pasteurized milk are also recommended.
