Do you have Trump anxiety disorder?
USA: US psychiatrists and psychologists warn against Trump
The 27 courageous psychiatrists and psychologists in this book are convinced that US President Donald Trump is absolutely dangerous to the public and incapable of his high office. This has helped them over the threshold of the Goldwater Rule. When he ran for the office of US president a few decades ago, individual psychiatrists already dared to use their methods on him, with devastating results. But the civil society reprimanded the attempt with censure and a strict ban. Only those who had voluntarily presented themselves in a diagnostic interview or on the couch for a character suitability test were allowed to be screened semi-officially.
What the 27 brave found out - in great agreement, by the way - is frightening enough this time. But courage was needed in the face of the president's vicious vengeance, and not everyone who spoke up first had it. Even if he does not take note of the book, which has been causing a sensation in the USA for several months, or if he reviles it as lying and slandered and tried to devalue it as part of a conspiracy: the man appears to many colleagues as too threatening for them to consider theirs initial consent withdrawn.
The plan was based on a high-profile conference at Yale University, hosted by the respected psychiatrist Bandy X. Lee, who in her own contribution does not keep her learned tongue in the least under control, even in her great introduction under the title: “Our duty to warn ”, also with reference to the torturers of psychologists of the US government:“ We recently witnessed the shame brought upon itself by an entire professional association, the American Psychological Association. ”In her text, she writes, herself Encouraging: "We said to ourselves that if the approval of experts could significantly contribute to disguising the disregard for human rights, then an ostracism on the part of the experts must also have weight."
Now to individual diagnosticians: Gail Sheehy says, “that under the grandiosity feelings of narcissistic personalities the abyss of an extremely fragile self-esteem lurks (...). More than anything else, Trump lacks self-confidence ”, which is why he“ has to prove himself to the world with drastic actions ”. Behind this compulsion hides "a low tolerance to shame, which in turn leads to vindictiveness and anger, as well as a lack of sense of responsibility, dishonesty, and a lack of empathy" (Bandy X. Lee). Zimbardo and Sword diagnose "unbridled and extreme present-day hedonism"; Dodes speaks of "sociopathy"; Herb calls him "a presumably incapacitated person" and Panning speaks of an "anxiety disorder", which he considers to be particularly dangerous as a contagious affect for half the nation. Others emphasize his father complex and the early exile at the age of 13 in a boarding school, where he fought for a bad reputation as a thug. The psychoanalyst Lee, editor of the weighty volume, recognizes in her glamorous foreword: “The way in which Trump appears, the way he acts politically, is shocking and triggers a whole bundle of psychologically stressful feelings: bewilderment, shame, anger, powerlessness , Helplessness, despair, resignation, sarcasm. “Tilman Moser
