Samsung engineers use Samsung phones

Mobile & Apps

In February 2021, Samsung extended the "update promise" for its Galaxy smartphones - also retrospectively for all models available since 2019. Since then, the Galaxy devices in question have received Android security updates for at least four instead of the previous three years.

What does that mean in concrete terms? Samsung delivers the updates for its Galaxy smartphones in the form of firmware updates at different intervals: monthly, quarterly and semi-annually. These updates not only close Android security gaps, but the updates also contain updates for Samsung-exclusive functionalities such as the interface and the preinstalled Samsung apps and services.

This must be taken into account when updating a Galaxy cell phone

Samsung Galaxy devices notify the user as soon as an update is available for installation. However, this can sometimes take a little longer before such a message appears. You can also use the settings to check whether such an update is available and thus receive it more quickly. Samsung recommends connecting your smartphone or tablet to a power source with the charging cable before updating. Alternatively, the battery should be charged to at least 50 percent. You should also use a stable WiFi connection and make sure that there is enough free storage space on the device.
