Responsibility of the social security agencies in health insurance

In the context of social insurance, the following social insurance carriers are responsible for health insurance in the event of a household accident:

Notification of sickness to the employer

If an employee is unable to work as a result of a household accident, he or she is obliged to inform the employer immediately (without undue delay).

Measures within the framework of the statutory health insurance

The following measures can be taken by the statutory health insurance as a result of a household accident:

  • Medical treatment (medical help, remedies and remedies as well as services equivalent to medical help, e.g. psychotherapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy)
  • Home medical nursing
  • Institutional care
  • Sickness benefit in the event of incapacity for work due to illness
  • Reintegration allowance after long sick leave
  • Rehabilitation allowance in the event of reduced ability to work
  • Dental treatment, dentures, orthodontic treatments
  • Help with physical ailments (aids)
  • Medical rehabilitation measures
  • Health promotion measures (general advice and education on the prevention of diseases and accidents)
  • Voluntary services or at a reasonable discretion
    • Measures to consolidate health (spa stays, subsidies for such)
