How to come to Wales

There are direct flights to Cardiff from various airports around the world. Furthermore, there are several daily flight connections with KLM from several German airports, for example via Amsterdam to Cardiff.

Cardiff Airport is located in Rhoose on the south coast of Wales, approx. 20 km southwest of the city center. The Cardiff Airport Express Bus Service T9 leaves the airport every 20 minutes and stops at various stations in Cardiff Bay and the city center (fare £ 7, approx. € 7.70 one way). From Rhoose there are trains to Cardiff Central and Bridgend every hour (Mon-Sat) and every two hours on Sundays. There is a shuttle bus from the airport to the train station in Rhoose (journey time approx. 10 minutes, price £ 1).

All major rental car companies and various taxi companies are represented in the Arrivals Hall of Cardiff Airport.

The closest airport to South Wales and Cardiff is Bristol Airport. From here there are regular train and bus connections to Cardiff Central as well as the National Express Bus, which runs from Bristol Airport to Newport and various stops in the Welsh capital. The journey time from Bristol Airport is approximately 1.5 hours. Of course, all the major rental car companies are also based at Bristol Airport.

If you fly to London Heathrow, you can drive to South Wales in about 2.5 hours either by rental car or by bus. There are regular train services (every 30 minutes) from London Paddington to Cardiff Central. The journey time by train is only two hours.

If you want to travel to Central or North Wales, there are flights with various airlines to, for example, Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool. Central Wales is under two hours from Birmingham and less than an hour's drive from Manchester. There are also good train connections to Wales from Manchester and Birmingham.
