Those who have austerity measures hurt the most

Many of the 72 austerity measures implemented by the Wartau municipal council are likely to shake their heads. Services provided by the community in favor of the village market, the Trübbächler fair and the Christkindlimarkt are to be discontinued for annual savings of 15,000 francs.

Many of the 72 austerity measures implemented by the Wartau municipal council are likely to shake their heads. Services provided by the community in favor of the village market, the Trübbächler fair and the Christkindlimarkt are to be discontinued for annual savings of 15,000 francs. The re-audit of the Energy City label should be dispensed with in order to save 15,000 francs. This would mean that the Wartau community would leave the energy region. These are just two examples from the long list.

There is something good about the savings mandate that the citizens' assembly gave to the municipal council by rejecting the budget: the measures that have been decided make it clear how many non-compulsory (service) services the political community has offered so far.

Sure: The city council does not present any major throws in the revised budget - except for the waiver of investments. But he can only save where the community provides voluntary services. Are the 72 measures really the yellow of the egg? The Wartau citizens will have to decide on May 27th.

In view of the many who would be affected by the small and medium-sized austerity measures, it would come as no surprise if, in the end, a little more taxes would rather be paid than (too) many sacrifices.
