What was your last success? If you are like many other people, the answer will be anything but spontaneous. In fact, most people are not as aware of their own successes, talents, and strengths as they are of their weaknesses, defeats, or failures. Those who try and do a lot learn a lot about themselves. Result: The majority thought they were either better than they really were (Impostor) or for excessively bad (Idiot) - in both cases, however, the self-assessment was miles away from the truth.
Self-assessment and self-worth: what does success mean to you?
When it comes to our successes, self-assessment and self-esteem go hand in hand. We are not only happy about our successes because we have achieved something that we have set ourselves. Self-awareness: Strengthening strengths
Particularly in the professional environment, one's own strengths and weaknesses are often discussed - and a distinction is usually made again between so-called Hard skills and Soft skills.
To the Hard skills count for example:

6 methods to recognize (more) successes

There the methods presented here pursue two goals: They should - firstly - make it easier for you to perceive your successes and - secondly - help you to find more time for calm and self-reflection.
You can do that:
Keep a success diary
The success diary is a Classic among the reflection methods. It works in a similar way to a positive list: Take time in the evening, ideally always at the same time, to write down five to ten successes of the day. As you read it and over time, it will become increasingly easier for you not only to see and name many successes - you will also become more aware of your own strengths. However, you should keep such a success diary for at least four to six weeks in order to notice the first effects in everyday work. Of course, it doesn't hurt to continue the diary afterwards.
Identify the success share
Has your team completed a large project or successfully mastered a task? Then take the opportunity and make it clear which one Share in this success with your work. Such a project is certainly primarily a team success, created through the interplay of different talents. But yours couldn't be missing either. Mind you: The point here is not to emphasize your contribution to the others - you only do this for yourself, but consciously. Here, too, it helps to write it down.
If you praise your boss or colleagues, please do not downplay your achievements. For many, this is somehow embarrassing - but it shouldn't: Rather, be aware of what you are praised and recognized for. Honest praise comes about due to excellent performance. These, in turn, are a good guide to your associated strengths and talents.
Lack of self-assessment can partly also be due to a lack of standards or Progress indicators lie. That sounds complicated, but it's not: It's just a matter of looking for key figures or measurement parameters in order to be able to recognize progress along the way - even the small ones.
The perception of success is one thing - the reward is another. Make it a habit to opt for small partial successes (so-called Milestones) to reward. Formulate goals: Use the SMART method
Last but not least, you can also use the so-called SMART method to formulate your goals, whereby the focus here is on initially assessing your own goals as realistically as possible and then setting reasonable deadlines.
The SMART method is anything but new, it was developed in 1956 and is an acronym. It is:
- Specific: Goals should be described as specifically as possible.
- Measurable: Orientate yourself on measurable facts.
- Attractive: Plan in such a way that you also feel like doing it.
- Realistic: What you set out to do must of course also be feasible.
- On schedule: That means planning the tasks in a timely manner. So roughly: I want to earn ten percent more by the end of the year.
Self-assessment: Lots of self-tests
There are now numerous (often free) Self-assessment tests, so-called Self-assessments. These are primarily aimed at school leavers who have not yet developed any professional prospects for themselves, i.e. who are faced with the question: What should I become?
The Self-assessment test then serves the prospective students for orientation and as possible Decision-making aid when choosing a career.
